An Exhibition of rare and valuable Persian Carpets at DUKE Contemporary Art Space.

When thieves break in to take items from a home, they usually search for typical symbols of wealth, like cash in a safe or a luxury car. But who would have thought to look at items beneath our feet? It may sound strange, but some Persian Carpets are worth more than several supercars put together. In fact, the highest valued Persian Rug was from the 17th century, auctioned for almost 34-million dollars by Global Auction House Sotheby’s in 2013.
Although they have long been created as an object for decoration, Persian Carpets have turned into a popular item of investment. The prices usually differ depending on the location of origin, the era it was made, materials used, techniques and patterns. If you’re looking to study the art of Persian Carpets, then DUKE Contemporary Art Space at Gaysorn Village is currently displaying a Persian Carpets Private Collection. Don’t miss it, as this event allows you to get up close to view the carpets.
