Swatch Flymagic limited edition watches chosen to debut the group’s new paramagnetic balance spring.

Magnetism is a real but not tangible issue in watchmaking. There are several sources of magnetism in the world we live in today which include our mobile phone and electric appliances. Realising the gravity of this threat, a number of watch companies have tried to work on innovations to fight against it. Some high-end brands have turned to silicon as a material for the production of balance springs. While silicon is effectively resistant against the effects of magnetic forces, the process through which it is produced and its relative brittleness make it a rather costly solution.
Enter Nivachron: a brand new material developed for balance springs. This titanium-based alloy is highly resistant against magnetism, temperature changes and shocks while also being cheaper to produce than silicon. Swatch Group has chosen to debut Nivachron in the Swatch brand so a special series of watches were designed to mark this breakthrough. It is called Swatch Flymagic and the key visual attraction is the use of an inverted Sistem51 movement to give a clear view of the functional parts and to have the winding rotor on the dial side.
Three variations are offered in a limited quantity of 500 pieces each: stainless steel with blue accent, stainless steel with red accent and stainless steel with PVD coating in gold colour. The 45 mm watch is worn on either a rubber strap or one of the two calfskin straps in the set. Thai price is 49,900 Baht, making it the most expensive Swatch model in the current collection. แต่เมื่อไม่นานมานี้เครือบริษัท Swatch Group ได้เปิดตัววัสดุเพื่อการผลิตบาลานซ์สปริงชนิดใหม่ที่มีชื่อว่านิวาครอนซึ่งเป็นอัลลอยที่มีไทเทเนียมเป็นส่วนผสมหลัก สามารถทนทานต่อสนามแม่เหล็ก การเปลี่ยนแปลงของอุณหภูมิและแรงสั่นสะเทือนได้ดี แต่มีขั้นตอนการผลิตที่ไม่ซับซ้อนเท่าซิลิคอนและมีต้นทุนในการผลิตที่ต่ำกว่าด้วย ในครั้งนี้ Swatch Group ได้เลือก Swatch เป็นแบรนด์แรกในเครือที่ได้ใช้วัสดุดังกล่าวจนมีการผลิตรุ่นเปิดตัวพิเศษชื่อว่า Flymagic โดยนำเครื่องของรุ่น Sistem51 มากลับด้านให้เห็นโรเตอร์ขึ้นลานอยู่ด้านบนเหนือหน้าปัดและเห็นการทำงานของชิ้นส่วนกลไกอย่างชัดเจน
