Ladies, what would you do if you want a dainty watch with all the hallmarks of old-school jewellery craftsmanship? You turn quickly to the Piaget Extremely Lady. These pink gold and white gold oval watches are distinctive for having a supple bracelet that looks almost like a fabric strap, but in fact, they are made of matching precious metals. The petite ensemble very much embodies the 1960s: one of the most fertile periods for the Swiss watch industry.
Different styling executions can be seen on the surface of these bracelets. There are three engraving patterns to be exact, all inspired by elements of nature around La Côte-aux-Fées where Georges-Edouard Piaget started the business in his farmhouse in the late 19th century. The wood texture obviously refers to the lush forests; the frost decor marks the winter; and the fur pattern represents the outer garments worn to survive the cold. This intricate engraving work is only possible, thanks to the collective knowhow of the artisans in Piaget’s own workshops.
That is not all that is good and great with the quartz collection. To give these watches a timeless preciousness, Piaget has endowed them with a dial made of stone. Expect to see lapis lazuli, opal, heart of ruby or mother of pearl in the embrace of brilliant-cut diamonds.
